COCTEAU TWINS COLLECTING

It's hard to know where to start when it comes to collecting Cocteau Twins. After you've managed to gather all of the standard album releases you move on to the singles and EP's then onto the promo stuff. Finding and completing your collection becomes more difficult as items become more scarce. One of the best sources for finding Cocteau Twins rarities is Ebay, another great source is Gemm. You can also try posting messages on the various forums, including the official discussion boards Trading amongst fans is a great source for those hard-to-find items!

It's difficult to determine what is rare or desirable, your best bet is to interact in the Cocteau Twins community (using the forums suggested above) to get a sense of what to look for. Cocteau Twins have produced a variety of rare items throughout their long and fruitful career, many of which are considered to be very rare. Even items that aren't all that rare are still sought after. Below you'll find a list of the top ten (in no particular order) sought after Cocteau Twins items, this does not mean that they are necessarily the most valuable items.

    (1) Snow CD Single (Not rare at all but oddly a highly desirable item)
    (2) Athol-Brose CD Single (Look for a copy with the obi strip intact)
    (3) A Taste Of Milk & Kisses (Very rare Canadian-only promo CD)
    (4) Japanese Box Set (Both valuable and collectable)
    (5) Cocteau Twins Kaleidoscope (Very valuable and hard to find, especially with its black case)
    (6) Blue Bell Knoll DAT (More valuable if it is still sealed)
    (7) Iceblink Luck 3" CD Single (Hard to find German-only release)
    (8) Honda Promo CD (The absolute rarest Cocteau Twins item)
    (9) Summerhead (Look for promotional editions, they are more valuable)
    (10) Vinyl Bootlegs (The rarer vinyl boots include Japanese "Scream" and Italian "Unrealised Dreams")

The above list is just a sample of what Cocteau Twins fans are after. Each collector is after different things, some people for example only collect standard material, while others only collect live bootlegs.
