"Well...the summer just went by in england, as if it were a friend on a sleepover, and yet even if it had been hot i would not have known about it. Since working on the James Yorkston record for Domino in January, I have been back in studio as producer with young Brighton-based band CLEARLAKE who are quite simply the best british band since The Smiths. With huge tunes, incredible harmonies, subtle inter-weaving guitars, punk attitude and skinny little bodies (bastards), they will make you swoon. They will release 'Trees' on Domino later. We will be mastering at Abbey Rd soon, so check the Domino site for news. That has taken me the best part of two months, and in between days i have been working with 60s starlet VASHTI BUNYAN. A protege of the Rolling Stones' Andrew Loog Oldham, the divine Ms Bunyan has been keeping a ludicrously low profile since, so me and a few other semi-notables ( Anthony from JACK, Bob Stanley from ST ETIENNE, Glen from PIANO MAGIC, Kieran from FOURTET, JAMES YORKSTON, etc) will be getting some things together for her over the coming months, and early signs are that it will be a fantastic and unusual record. I have not been in the office much, but keeping in daily contact by phone and fax and Peter and Fiona have been steering the Bella ship for me, but now it's coming to the end of August and I will need to be back to help with the Czars tour, the GARLIC release and the VENUE new album too, so lots to do as usual. Feel free to email me whenever."

Beggars Banquet recording artist Michael J Sheehy has also called in doctor raymonde for piano duties on several tracks on his forthcoming album...check Beggars Banquet for more info.

Cool independent label Domino (Smog, Clinic, Jim O'Rourke, Fourtet) had Simon Raymonde mix the forthcoming debut album from James Yorkston, a brilliant mix of punk, folk, somewhere between Shane MacGowan's lyrical brilliance and Nick Drake's elegant delivery.

East West Records signing ARCHIVE's new single Again due out in April will have a version of the song re-recorded and re-mixed by Simon Raymonde.
